Studies have already shown re-usable bags to be contaminated with food particulates, juices and to be riddled with bacteria after multiple uses. You can't ask people to go back to paper, unless people not having cars walking home in the rain with paper bags seems reasonable. Getting rid of disposable plastic bags is a recipe for disaster.

It happened the other way around here.

Plastic bags have been banned in a number of
communities, EXCEPT reusable bags. A lot of
businesses switched to paper, including CVS
pharmacy. AND THEN they switched back to
plastic, REUSABLE plastic bags -- which of
course are much heavier (thicker) plastic.

...so the conservation efforts results in
an increase of plastic use!

Except in the city of Cambridge. Cambridge
mandates CHARGING customers for bags -- 10
cents each! Because when people don't want
something you have to make the alternative
artificially costly.

You know, like they do with wind & solar...
