At the end of the two weeks of talk the protectionists realize the Ford plants have not re opened, the nativists realize that the Mexicans are still in the U. S. and the coal miners realize they are still unemployed.

Then tRUMP capitulates on the previous 2 weeks of talk.

Reminds me of the classic psych experiment where a subject is
hypnotised to accept you can draw a figure on paper which is both
a circle and a square.
After the subjcet gets over any childhood training against the notion
they say they can understand it is now possible.
Asked to draw what they think is an answer they will first draw some
kind of square, look at it, grumble something is wrong, scratch it out
and draw a kind of circle, look at it, hurumph, scratch it out and
draw another kind of square, scratch that out, ...

Don't know this parable of the hypnotised osych student applies to Trump
or his supporters or both.

Depends on which supporters.

tRUMP has a significant personality cult like following that will Kristallnacht at his command but killing some minorities is about as close to a fascist dictatorship tRUMP will get.

As Tocqueville explained, "a despotism would find it more difficult to over come the habits of freedom than to overcome the love of freedom itself."
