Repatriate all production of clothing, electronics and white goods back to the U.S. from China. Increased controls on emissions in the U.S. along with higher costs for goods will decrease C02 production by at least 20%. Plus, it will ensure maximum employment for the U.S. for a considerable period. Downside is cost, which means you leftist millenial a--holes won't get a new phone every six months.

This is going to happen, if energy prices rise to
ridiculous levels. It has to. Transportation will
represent so much cost that it would be cheaper
to produce locally.

In the old days this was exactly what happened.
There were regional brands of everything from
beer to potato chips & mayonnaise. And shoes!

Also: If you have to depend on wind & solar,
you're far better doing it on a micro rather
than macro scale. This way you don't need a
spare cubic mile of empty field to host your
solar panels and/or windmills.
