All taxes & subsidies do not have the same effect on the economy.
A subsidy on education? smart
A subsidy for extraction? stoopid
A tax on education? stoopid
A tax on geo resources? smart
Subsidize extraction at the expense of education like oil goop Venezuela and the people starve to death.
Tax carbon fuel to the max to pay for tuition like Netherlands and people work smarter and harder.
Yer society becomes the envy of the world.
You can call either country "capitalistic" or "socialistic" but who cares?
The tar goop subsidy is a parazoid on productive hardworking Canadians.
Socialist Cubans and Venezuelans pay a tax rate the equivalent of 100%
of their labour value. That's why your kook-nalysis is so laughable.
Energy is the pillar of the economy, the cheaper and more abundant it
is, the better off society is.
Examine any country in the world and the folks living in the wealthiest
nations with the highest standards of living spend the *least* amount of
income on energy.
In fact, greenie policy has pushed millions and millions into energy
poverty. Any household that spend more than 10% of income on energy is
Didya know there are a million households in the Netherlands suffering
energy poverty, because of high fuel taxes and green energy
In Venezuela, energy is heavily govt subsidized to combat energy
poverty, YET THEY ARE STILL ENERGY-POOR. Why is that?
The number one reason: Venezuelan energy production is very inefficient,
due to massive corruption and mismanagement of the state-owned
industries. That naturally results in a very low return on investment
for the public.
The key point that escapes green kooks is that taxing carbon at any
level does not cause a market transition away from fossil fuels, it
simply makes energy less affordable for everyone.
Every jurisdiction on the planet that imposes carbon taxes witnesses an
increase in energy poverty and an overall lower standard of living.
