the planet will reach the crucial threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7
degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels by as early as 2030,
precipitating the risk of extreme drought, wildfires, floods and food
shortages for hundreds of millions of people.

The date, which falls well within the lifetime of many people alive today, is
based on current levels of greenhouse gas emissions.

The planet is already two-thirds of the way there, with global temperatures
having warmed about 1 degree C. Avoiding going even higher will require
significant action in the next few years.

"This is concerning because we know there are so many more problems if we
exceed 1.5 degrees C global warming, including more heatwaves and hot summers,
greater sea level rise, and, for many parts of the world, worse droughts and
rainfall extremes," Andrew King, a lecturer in climate science at the
University of Melbourne, said in a statement.

So NOBODY in their right mind is worried
about slight temperature increases -- well
below the earth's pre ice age norms -- but
the fossil fuels are running out.

Again: It's not about how much oil is in
the ground, it's about how much can be
delivered to the market as opposed to how
much the market wants...

By 2030 the tap will run out, meaning the
oil supply will fall short of demand.

That's the way.....just keep moving the goal posts.... right "Unum" the Liar ? ?

How many tipping points have we now passed over the years ? ?

Before each COPnn we are left with only ten more years, and before each
IPCC report release we are left with twelve. 23 COP + 5 IPCC major
reports, a handful of minor reports (SREX, 1.5°C, etc.), ~30 climate
tipping points. We survived at least 20 of them. The IPCC was created by
the neo-Malthusian guys driven by the Club of Rome apocalyptic computer
simulations.

BVWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Why was it never a "crucial threshold" in the not-so-distant past, when
temps were as hot or hotter? Even the POLAR BEARS survived... how bad
could it be or get?

I thought that's what you crybabies were screeching about lo these past
many years? You mean THAT hasn't happened yet?

What a fucking chicken shit, Chicken Little crying wolf. Wanna know why
fewer and fewer are not believers in this shit anymore?

Well, you are the boy who cried wolf
And you know You've lied in the past
But last night You saw his yellow eyes shining in the dark
Yeah, You know You spun tales with his voice
And You opened your mouth too fast

But last night You saw his footprints in the path
Well, You could swim every sea from south pole to north
But You know You'll only ever be the boy who cried wolf
Well, You are the shepherd's only son
And You know what a joke You've become

You have an honest heart but You have lies on your tongue
You don't know how it started or where it came from
And you have no reason and You have no proof
But this time You swear, You're telling the truth
You saw that old wolf, from tail to tooth

And You know that he's hungry and he's coming down too
Well, You could swim every sea from south pole to north
And You could climb every tree and scale every course
And You could share only the truth from this day forth
But You know You'll only ever be the boy who cried wolf

Oh, oh, You are the boy who cried wolf
Oh, oh, You are the boy who cried wolf

Hey, you in the path of Michael? Might be all hype, but then again, might get bad. Stay safe...
Thanks. We're only 73 miles from where the eye hit, but only received
minor winds and little rain.

Just shows to go ya, it IS all hype. Our governor tried telling us that
THIS hurricane was the strongest to have hit the panhandle in 100 years.

What a load of crap. The winds AT the eye may have been strong, but this
was a small "weak" storm, overall. Seems like EVERYBODY these days, both
Democrap AND Repugnacan'ts, is trying to hype shit, JUST to get more of
that gub'mint dollar.

I've gone through hurricanes here since 1965... Gov. Scott isn't as old as
me, and CERTAINLY has fewer working brain cells, because:

Look at the RADAR pictures of these hurricanes, then compare them to
Michael... Michael is small in comparison.

Loading Image...

Hurricane Eloise (1975):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Eloise
Eloise generated wind gusts of 155 miles per hour

Hurricane Kate (1985):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Kate_(1985)
A Category 3 and reaching its peak intensity of 120 mph.

Hurricane Erin (1995):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Erin_(1995)

Hurricane Opal ((1995):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Opal
Opal was an intense 150 mph

Those storms may have not hit the HIGHEST wind peak of 155mph, but their
sustained winds averaged higher AND with much more damage.

Hell, Camille (1969), which hit Gulfport/Biloxi (145 mi. away), did more
damage here, than Michael.

What was the CO2 level when the "greate hurry cane" of 1607 scattered the
“Third Supply” of nine ships and 500 immigrants and wrecked the flagship Sea
Venture with Sir Thomas Gates, Sir George Somers, and John Rolfe on a reef
in Bermuda? The ships that survived the storm arrived at Jamestown with
about 300 men, women, and children and few provisions to feed them:
https://historicjamestowne.org/history/history-timeline/

Then there was the "Great Colonial Hurricane" of 1635:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Colonial_Hurricane_of_1635

In 1667 there was a repeat performance. The following is a letter from
Secretary Thomas Ludwill to Lord Berkeley on the subject of this "dreadful
hurry cane" of September 6th gives added information about the cyclone:

"Jamestown Colony - this poore country is now reduced to a very miserable
condition by a continental course of misfortune. On the 27th of August
followed the most dreadful Hurry Cane that ever the Colony (Jamestown)
groaned under. It lasted 24 hours, began at North East and went around
northerly till it came to west and so it came to Southeast where it ceased.
It was accompanied with a most violent rain but no thunder. The night of it
was the most dismal time I ever knew or heard of, for the wind and rain
raised so confused a noise, mixed with the continued cracks of failing
houses.....The waves were impetuously beaten against the shores and by that
violence forced and as it were crowded into all creeks, rivers and bays to
that prodigious height that it hazarded the drowning of many people who
lived not in sight of the rivers, yet were then forced to climb to the top
of their houses to keep themselves above water. The waves carried all the
foundations of the Fort at Point Comfort into the river and most of
furnished and garrison with it.....but then morning came and the sun risen
it would have comforted us after such a night, had it not lighted to us the
ruins of our plantations, of which I think not one escaped. The nearest
computation is at least 10,000 houses blown down, all the Indian grain laid
flat on the ground, all the tobacco in the fields torn to pieces and most of
that which was in the houses perished with them. The fences about the corn
fields were either blown down or beaten to the ground by trees which fell
upon them."

August 18, 1669: This hurricane struck the northern Outer Banks of North
Carolina, and most likely affected Virginia.

August 23, 1683: A hurricane which made landfall in Virginia caused a
tremendous flood in the Connecticut Valley.

September 5-10, 1683: William Dampier, a sailor and buccaneer, gave a "vivid
account" of a hurricane in the North Atlantic, three days after leaving
Virginia. He addressed it in his chapter titled "Discourse of the
Trade-Winds, Breezes, Storms, Seasons of the Year, Tides and Currents of the
Torrid Zone throughout the World," published between 1703 and 1705. This
writing became a classic of maritime literature.

October 29, 1693: A "most violent storm in Virginia" stopped the course of
old channels and created new ones from Virginia northward to Long Island.
The great storm was violent as it passed through Accomack, which was located
on the Delmarva peninsula between Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic, sixty
miles northeast of Norfolk. This storm may have created Fire Island Cut, to
the east of New York City.

category 3 storm. It was traveling between 60 and 70 miles per hour!

So... what was the CO² level in 1938, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Hurricane Earliest Category 3+ hurricane : Hurricane Able, May 15, 1951
(In May/June 1825 there was a major hurricane also, but there is less
information available about it due to the records of the time.)

So... what was the CO² level in 1951 and 1825, compared to today?
Shouldn't the RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Strongest May hurricane: Hurricane Able 1951 (Category 3), 1908 Hurricane
(Category ?), Alma 1970 (Cat 1), Tropical Storm 1933, May 15, 1887 (70mph)
& May 17, 1887 (60 mph), earliest two storms active at once. Tropical
Storm One, May 22, 1948 (50mph). Tropical Storm One, May 19, 1940.

So... what was the CO² level in 1951, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Strongest February tropical storm: Groundhog Day Storm of 1952 February 2,
1952-February 3, 1952, 50 mph

So... what was the CO² level in 1952, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Earliest hurricane in existence in a calendar year: Hurricane Alice,
January 1-6, 80mpg 1955 (and December 31, 1954), formed the previous year.

So... what was the CO² level in 1954, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Latest hurricane formed: Hurricane Alice 1am EST, December 30, 1954.

So... what was the CO² level in 1954, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Latest hurricane in existence from previous year: Hurricane Alice, 1954-
1955, January 6, 1955

So... what was the CO² level in 1954, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Strongest January hurricane: Hurricane Alice, January 1955, 80 mph winds
(peak January 2, 1955) (The naming is a story in itself since it became a
tropical storm Dec 30, 1954 but advisories weren't issued until January
1955, so it was given the name Alice, which made it the second Alice for
1954 - at that time names were re-used each year), December 30, 1954-
January 6, 1955.

So... what was the CO² level in 1955, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Strongest June hurricane: Hurricane Audrey, June 25-29, 1957 (145mph, 946
mbar) (see also Alma 1966, 130 mph, 970 mbar and Agnes June 14-25, 1972
did a lot of damage, 85mph, 977 mbar)

So... what was the CO² level in 1957, 1966 and 1972, compared to today?
Shouldn't the RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Earliest hurricane to strike the United States: Alma struck northwest
Florida on June 9, 1966.
Four hurricanes have existed simultaneously twice: August 22, 1893 and
September 25-27, 1998 with Georges, Ivan, Jeanne and Karl as hurricanes.
In 1971 there were 5 tropical cyclones simultaneously, but only 2 were
hurricanes.

So... what was the CO² level in 1966, 1893, 1998 and 1971, compared to
today? Shouldn't the RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Earliest tropical storm formed: Subtropical Storm One, January 18, 1978,

So... what was the CO² level in 1978, compared to today? Shouldn't the
RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Strongest August hurricane: Allen 1980 899 mbar, 190 mph (see also
Katrina, 2005 175 mph sustained winds, 902 mbar; Hurricane Camille, August
1969, 190 mph, 905 mbar; Andrew, August 1992, 175mph, 922 mbar)

longer). Hurricane Dog 1950 2.50 days; Hurricane Isabel 2003, Hurricane
David 1979, Hurricane Mitch 1998 all 1.75 days.

So... what was the CO² level in 1980, 1950, 2003, 1979 and 1998, compared
to today? Shouldn't the RECORD be more current?
-----------------------

Strongest September hurricane: Gilbert 1988, 185 mph, 888 mbar, (see Rita,
2005 175 mph, 897 mbar; Hurricane Janet, 1955, 175mph 914 mb)

So... what was the CO² level in 1988, 2005 and 1955, compared to today?

Malapropism is the act of using an incorrect word in place of one that
is similar in pronunciation.

You may mis-speak sometimes and create your own malapropism examples,

Spamming little moron yaps about a completely appropriate term.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/07/world/climate-change-new-ipcc-report-wxc/

the planet will reach the crucial threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7
degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels by as early as 2030,
precipitating the risk of extreme drought, wildfires, floods and food
shortages for hundreds of millions of people.

AnthropoCENTRIC global warming is a malapropism.

For someone to claim it "means" anything else invites attention to
examine their motives, competence, etc. ... if the hearers are patient
with ignorance, with weasels, etc.

Otherwise, maybe it just invites "hilarious" ridicule.

Otherwise, maybe it just invites "hilarious" ridicule.
Oh my, so you are saying human free will (a decision to use dirty fossil fuel) cannot impact nature and overwhelm the system to the point where it will have a negative impact on businesses need to reduce risk (a fiduciary responsibility to investors)?

That's pretty obvious. So much brainless mewling about a completely
appropriate term. Why do these people hate humanity so much?

https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/07/world/climate-change-new-ipcc-report-wxc/

the planet will reach the crucial threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7
degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels by as early as 2030,
precipitating the risk of extreme drought, wildfires, floods and food
shortages for hundreds of millions of people.

The date, which falls well within the lifetime of many people alive today, is
based on current levels of greenhouse gas emissions.

It is consistent with the level of understanding that claims "**The**

For thinking people, the amount of self-refutation by alarmists has

Maybe those who can't distinquish between anthropoGENIC,

It's easy to beat yourself up about Australia being a redneck country.

We do, after all, imprison brown asylum seekers and once celebrated our
national day with a white racist riot. There were those assaults on Indian
students, a little political organisation called One Nation and, of
course, "the intervention" - the heraldic beak on our long, hawkish
treatment of indigenous Australians.

We once celebrated our national day with a white racist riot at Cronulla.
