Going back to the Clinton years, some of the
sticking points on any peace deal were water
rights. The region is dry. Period. It has been
try all through history. You have to go back
to pre history before it could be considered
"Lush."

Effectively, the region has been drying out
in parallel with north Africa, though nowhere
near as badly.
