'End of an era' as UK's last coal-fired power plant closes
The U.K. was once the planet's largest producer of coal, but
now their reserves are smaller than the state of West Virginia.

After over 100 years there just plain isn't much left. It used
to be that the street lights of London, the gas street lights,
were fueled by coal gas...

Coal is a strategic mineral. They have to hoard what they've
got left, hold onto it for emergencies.

In terms of BTUs, the United States has more energy stored
away in coal than the nations with the #1 and #2 oil reserves
combined....

It makes a lot of sense for the U.K. to save what coal it has
left, and it makes zero sense for the U.S. to do so.
