The media ignores good news - as usual. They also ignore the fact that major hurricanes are slowly decreasing, with none at
all in 2013.

I wonder why.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GTR8ujWX0AAGV1p?format=jpg&name=900x900

But, but, but......... You mean they count/measure hurricanes with numbers not screams.......

The NHC is changing the rules on when and how they name storms which has the net effect of inflating the numbers.

As sketchy as the IPCC AR6 is, nowhere do they even suggest that hurricane strength or number are above the 50% detection
and attribution threshold this century.

We're on the edge of one that has landfallen in Fujian.
A bit breezy.
First this year..
They used to come through weekly 10 years ago.
Not so much heat in the pacific I suppose.
Damn this global warming..

Is that the entire record of hurricanes that's available, Loser-1?

Answer: absolutely not.

They have statistics going back to 1851

I wonder why.
Because he's cherry-picking the dataset.

Ignore the really old data if you want, but the trend since post-war is
pretty clear, and they weren't missing "major hurricanes" during the
last half of the 20th century.

Why Do People With Narcissistic Personality Disorder Play Games?

At times, it may appear that the goal of someone living with NPD is to get their needs met, which may involve other people
who consciously and unconsciously help them achieve that end, says Dena DiNardo, PhD, a clinical psychologist in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"These 'games' are strategic manipulations," she adds. "Often, they're completely unconscious. People having trouble with
this level of narcissism are usually in such deep pain that their ability to empathetically connect with the pain of others
is low."

What games do people with narcissistic personality disorder play?

Those who live with NPD often HAVE LOW SELF-ESTEEM.

As a result, many games they play may revolve around maintaining a sense of control, so they don't have to be confronted
with the shame that they may feel inside.

This is why Ski Bunny can't post his own shit.

"People with narcissistic personality disorder tend to use strategies to gain power and control over the individual in order
to assert superiority and/or dominance over them," says Rahmah Albugami, a licensed professional counselor in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. "In this way, they get their needs met TO BOOST THEIR EGOS, VALUE, AND SELF-ESTEEM."

Poor Ski Bunny. :-(

Some common games someone with narcissistic personality disorder might engage in include:

blame shifting
deception
gaslighting
ghosting
playing the victim
projection

While these games may be common for someone with NPD, not everyone who plays them will have this condition or another
personality disorder.

How can you recognize when games are being played?

Becoming more familiar with these games may help you spot them in action and set appropriate personal boundaries.

Gaslighting:

Gaslighting refers to denying the truth of a situation as you saw or heard it, which can confuse your sense of reality. They
may be trying to avoid getting caught for something by turning it back around on you.

"One of the most common things to look out for are if you're constantly questioning yourself," says Albugami.

Revenge:

Having a fragile sense of self is not uncommon for someone with NPD.

If you call them out on their behaviors, it may create a narcissistic rage or injury. Rather than sit with the difficult
emotion and self-reflect, they may instead externalize the agony they feel in the form of revenge.

Ever seen a blind man cross the road
Trying to make the other side?
Ever seen a young girl, like you, growing old
Trying to make yourself a bride?

So what becomes of you,
When they have finally stripped you of
The Caveats and the Semantics
That your granddad had to sweat so you could ply

Once I was a young man
And all I thought I had to do was smile
You are still a whining girl
And you bought everything in style

But once you think you're in, you're out
'Cause you don't mean a single thing without
The Caveats and the Semantics
That your granddad had to sweat so you could ply

Sing a song of six-pence for your sake
And take a bottle full of rye
Four and twenty blackbirds in a cake
And bake them all in a pie

They told me you missed school today
So what I suggest, you just throw them all away
The Caveats and the Semantics
That your poor old granddad had to sweat to buy so you could ply

We don't NEED satellites for "major hurricanes" in the North Atlantic,
Loser-1.
All the datasets tend to show the same patterns.

Serial dimwits and misc shills often like to add Pacific and Atlantic
numbers together because it hides any trend unless you know how to do it.
(The Atl and Pac are controlled by the El Nino/La Nina cycle
and storms effectively move from one to the other ocean as a result
of the phase of the Nino.Adding 2 things with a -ve correlation == noise).

For the sat era we can continuously monitor all storms worldwide
and get good speed estimates of the wind just from the patterns of clouds
the sat can see in one or other light or IR bands.

For the Atlantic we can count the number of hours (a std way to
do it is just to look at the hrs 0,6,12,18 gmt every day)
we could see winds >50 kt from 1980 to 2014 (where my old dataset ends):

1980 190
1981 135
1982 48
1983 27
1984 136
1985 128
1986 56
1987 42
1988 113
1989 155
1990 154
1991 53
1992 99
1993 59
1994 41
1995 347
1996 238
1997 56
1998 257
1999 213
2000 186
2001 185
2002 78
2003 189
2004 261
2005 318
2006 136
2007 89
2008 216
2009 71
2010 230
2011 172
2012 233
2013 39
2014 108

Which the stats programs say has a strong increasing trend:
MODEL:
(No serial corr; no special adj needed).
y = 3.052936e+00*x + -5.961948e+03
Beta in 3.05294 +- 1.78092
T-test: Pr(beta>0) = 99.6%
Rank test: Pr(order by year == order by counts) = 99%
R2 = .28

I.e. each year in the sat era has seen around 3 more hrs of above
50kt storms in the Atlantic. 2 different stat sets say 99% certain.
I.e. about 1 chance in 10,000 it is not happening.

We don't NEED satellites for "major hurricanes"
How do you think we measure their tops and temperatures, dumbass?

https://www.nasa.gov/missions/goes/satellites-have-drastically-changed-how-we-forecast-hurricanes/

“One of the dramatic impacts is that satellite data keeps an eye on the
target,” especially over unpopulated areas such as oceans, said JPSS
Director Greg Mandt. “We’re sort of like your eyes in the sky to make
sure that Mother Nature can never surprise you.”

A fleet of Earth-observing satellites, including those from the Joint
Polar Satellite System (JPSS) and Geostationary Operational
Environmental Satellite series (GOES-R), provides remarkable advances in
hurricane forecasting. The JPSS polar-orbiting satellites measure the
state of the atmosphere by taking precise measurements of sea surface
temperatures and atmospheric temperature and moisture, which are
critical to securing storm forecasts several days in advance.

Improved sensors also give us a better understanding of the core of
hurricanes and allow forecasters to predict where they’re going to hit,
without over-warning, Mandt said. “Then you can narrow and shrink that
cone of uncertainty and give a better prediction.”

The GOES satellites orbit at the same rate as the Earth spins, which
allows them to stare at hurricanes as they evolve. That, combined with
advances to the sensors, gives us a view of hurricanes in motion.

“We take a full-disc picture of the entire hemisphere in five minutes,”
said GOES-R Series System Program Director Pam Sullivan. “But we can
also look at a smaller area and scan it every 30 seconds. You get to see
the hurricane eye wall forming. You can see it actually forming in real
time. The Earth looks alive. It looks like a living thing.”
