The world's oceans have levelled off at around .61C above 1980s
averages -- which would put Oct 2018 into #2 spot since 1850 if temps
stay around there for the rest of the month.

The 30-60N region, containing almost all the planet's major population
centers, has also levelled off around +1.1C above the baseline.
Calculating what that is relative to 1850 gets "floating overflow" on
my Casio watch calculator.

The waters off S Florida have lost ~.4C from the recent peaks,
indicating a bit of WV has fallen over nearby land to the tune of ~6".
The E Coast continues at ~1.6C above normal, barely noticing the
passage of a couple storms but ready lend a helping hand.

Elsewhere, the Atlantic Main Development Area seems to be fully
recovered from the latest spate of hurricanes and has reached new
heights of almost .7C above normal for this time of year. Still plenty
in the tank for another round.

And why would the type of person who has one be satisified with the
number of decimal places it displays?
